One of the biggest challenges owners face is determining how their pets feel. Are they in pain, are they anxious, are they scared? Having Dr. Metzger understand your pet’s medical history, asking the right questions about their behavior and discussing medications can help owners make that determination. Having either an in person or virtual consultation can be a first step toward the shared goal of palliative care before deciding on Euthanasia.
At home euthanasia is a very personal process. Families should consider all aspects of how to make the experience as calm and comfortable as possible. Think of where in the home your pet is most comfortable, what, if any, rituals you care to perform, and how to prepare their favorite foods. Any and all family members can be present. All questions are welcome. Once there, Dr. Metzger will explain all aspects of the process from giving sedation to transportation of your pet.
Act of Love works with Animal Memorial Services in Gilroy. Dr. Metzger has worked with this service for over ten years while at Adobe Animal Hospital. They are a trusted and experienced crematory. They cremate by Aquamation because this method has a less negative impact on the environment than traditional heat cremation.
